Gmail remains authoritative. MXpeek keeps a bounded encrypted working set on one Mac and gives you separate controls for local deletion, Google revocation, and Gmail export.

Your Local Mail Store
One MXpeek installation supports one Connected Gmail Account. Its encrypted Local Mail Store contains at most the newest 100 individual Inbox Messages needed for MXpeek's list, detail, local search, synchronization, and offline-reading features.
Retained content consists of limited message metadata, decoded sender and subject, a Safe Text Body, normalization outcomes, synchronization state, and the derived subject/sender/body search index. Attachments are not downloaded, retained, previewed, or opened; MXpeek keeps only a yes-or-no attachment indicator.
Offline retention
The encrypted working set can remain readable offline while the Connected Gmail Account remains configured, subject to applicable Google response directives, terms, and policies. MXpeek labels stale content rather than representing it as current. It does not turn the working set into a permanent archive.
Eviction
After a successful synchronization, MXpeek removes every message outside Gmail's authoritative newest-100 Inbox set. Metadata, sender rows, Safe Text Body, search entries, and temporary normalization data are removed together. No intentional archive, tombstone, or grace-period copy remains in MXpeek.
Three different actions
- Delete local data removes MXpeek-owned credentials, the sole database key, and Local Mail Store from this Mac.
- Revoke Google access stops future Gmail API access but does not erase a Local Mail Store already on this Mac.
- Export Gmail data uses Google's export path because Gmail is authoritative and MXpeek creates no unique mail content.
No cloud copy
MXpeek has no server, web portal, cloud synchronization, support export, or developer-accessible copy of Gmail data. Actions involving local data must be completed on the Mac that holds it.
